As of April 26, 2020, the City of Orlando had not released the documents pertaining to the Orlando Police Department's (OPD) Internal Affairs investigation of possible violations of the department’s policies on obedience to laws, obedience to policies and procedures, and use of deadly force at the Pulse Nightclub on June 12, 2016.
The CCAPM became aware of these documents through reporting done by Tess Sheets with the Orlando Sentinel, who obtained the reports through a public records request.*
These documents contain interviews the officers gave to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents days after the shooting. They detail the specific actions that first responders took, as well as details surrounding the lack of building plans and how they navigated the building and rescue efforts without knowing its layout.
You can download a searchable PDF of the OPD Internal Affairs Investigation by going to our public records library and downloading Document 1.
